Methodist Mission
There are three independent charitable trusts – Methodist Mission Northern (MMN), The Lifewise Trust (Lifewise) and Airedale Property Trust (APT). This is a complex organisation of 420 staff structured across 3 Trusts, 10 Services, and 11 sites. APT manages and protects the asset base of the Trusts, so that support to the community can be provided now and in the future, while Lifewise is the front-facing brand, responsible for delivering social services to the community.
Each Trust has a part to play in fostering family and community resilience, whether it’s through working with people and families directly or providing the supporting finances and organisational infrastructure that makes the work possible. The trusts have chosen to operate interdependently in order to work towards one vision of connected, just, and inclusive communities.
The Challenge:
Methodist Mission Northern faced the specific requirement of managing payroll for its executive team and senior leadership teams. This necessitated the implementation of a separate payroll system, primarily driven by the need to maintain confidentiality due to the nature of their roles within the organisation.
The Solution:
Top Flight was called in with their payroll expertise to provide monthly payroll services. A clear line of communication was established via Olga Simpson, Top Flight’s Payroll & HR Manager and the MMN contact (currently Antonia Yelavich). Olga has a wealth of international payroll, HR experience and extensive knowledge of NZ Payroll legislation. The process between Top Flight and MMN has become so streamlined and efficient a simple excel file is sent across to Top Flight who efficiently processes the payroll identifying any potential errors or discrepancies ahead of approval, and supplies a final report back to MMN.
